FOOTBALL: Upcoming World Cup qualifier match referee choice irk JFF

Published:Tuesday | September 3, 2013 | 7:19 AM

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) says it will honour its World Cup fixture against Panama on Friday despite FIFA throwing out a written protest over the match official appointments.

The JFF had written to FIFA after new Reggae Boyz coach German national Winfried Schafer, says he was unhappy with FIFA's choice of a referee from Guatemala.

The Panama game takes place in Panama City and will be the first for Schafer since his appointment as Reggae Boyz coach on July 17.

The Reggae Boyz have failed to win a match in six outings in the final round and are at the basement of the six-team group with two points.
