BASKETBALL: Jamaica begins second round campaign at FIBA tournament today

Jamaica’s men basketball team will today starts its campaign in the second round of the 2013 FIBA Americas Championships in Carecas, Venezuela.



The Jamaicans, who barely qualified for the second phase, will play the Dominican Republic in a match scheduled to start at 11 o'clock in the morning.



Jamaica secured a place in the second round after edging Brazil 78-76 in their final preliminary round game on Tuesday night.



The victory represents the only one for Jamaica from four games.



In other second round games today – Mexico will play Canada, Argentina and Puerto Rico will face off, while Venezuela will take on Uruguay.



The championships will qualify the four semi-finalists to the 2014 FIBA World Championships in Spain.
