Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips says the country must do all it can to ensure that the much talked about Logistics Hub becomes a reality.

Describing the hub as the best opportunity that will come along in decades for the country, the Finance Minister said the project represents a massive infusion of investment and other possibilities.

He said he is also surprised by the debate surrounding the proposed Goat Islands location for the port.

Chinese investors have indicated that the St Catherine location is their preferred site.

However, the Finance Minister says the debate should be focused on how the country can accommodate the hub at Goat Islands while protecting the environment.

Phillips says the country must also be aware that Jamaica is not the only country where a Logistics Hub can be established.

He says it would be to the country’s detriment if a project such as the Logistics Hub goes elsewhere.

The Finance Minister also believes the Logistics Hub is the government’s best chances to provide more jobs for the unemployed.

He says the project is on track for the 2015 deadline.

He was speaking on All Angles on TVJ last night.
