York Town gun attack may be reprisal - police

The Clarendon police say Friday’s attack on a family in York Town in the parish may have been a reprisal for another murder in the area.



A five-year-old boy has been permanently paralysed as a result of the attack and remains in hospital this evening, while three other persons, including the child’s mother, are in stable condition.



Reports reaching The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre are that gunmen invaded the house in which the child was living with his parent’s in York Town 8 p.m. Friday and sprayed the house with bullets, before setting the house ablaze.



They also robbed the occupants of a cell phones and other items.



According to the police, one of the occupants attempted to escape and was shot several times. The gunmen then reportedly opened fire on the other persons, including the five-year-old.
