Most NHF beneficiaries suffering from hypertension

The National Health Fund (NHF) is reporting that most persons accessing its subsidised health benefits are suffering from hypertension.



NHF Public Information Manager Rosemarie Lee says up to August 31 it received 239,000 cases.



Lee says this is followed by Arthritis with 143,000 cases; high cholesterol which recorded 127,000 cases; and diabetes with 121,000 cases.



Lee notes that these diseases are preventable and is urging Jamaicans to adopt a more healthy lifestyle.



She was speaking at the launch of Caribbean Wellness Day on Friday.



Jamaica will observe Caribbean Wellness Day on Saturday, September 14.
