Communities urged to be on the lookout for strangers

Published:Wednesday | September 11, 2013 | 1:45 PM

The Police are urging members of the public to be on the lookout for strangers in their communities based on intelligence which points to the migration of criminals to different areas.

The police say persons being sought for various crimes often try to elude law enforcement officials by fleeing to other communities where they continue to commit crimes.

Against that background, the police are advising citizens to report suspicious persons or incidents in their communities and to take greater care to protect themselves.

The police are also urging adults to warn children to avoid strangers and lonely areas.

They are also advising residents to become actively involved in the neighbourhood watch groups.

The public is also being reminded that harbouring a criminal is an offence punishable by law.
