BADMINTON: Jamaica set to improve medal tally at Badminton Championships

Jamaican badminton players are well set to improve the country’s medal tally on today’s third day of the 2013 Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation Junior Championships in Puerto Rico.



The country will be represented in seven finals today.



Sean Wilson will be the first Jamaican competing in a final today. He will face Soren Opti in the Boys’ Under-17 singles final, which is slated to start at 6:30 in the evening.



Sean Wilson will then team up with Shane Wilson in the Boys’ Under-17 doubles final, while Jamaica’s Christina Hastings and Arisleyda Frias del Orbe of the



Dominican Republic will team up in the Girls’ Under-16 Doubles final.



In the Under-15 age-group, Jamaica’s Shane Wilson will play Cesar Adonis Brito Gonzales in the final and then team up with Shantae Smith in the mixed doubles final.



Shezelle McTyson will represent Jamaica in the Girls’ Under-13 final, while Zane Reid will contest the Boys’ Under-11 final.



Jamaica has so far secured 17 medals.
