Three illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition were seized by the police in separate incidents in St Andrew and St Catherine this morning.

The police say there were no arrests in both incidents.

In the first incident, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), reports that shortly before 3 o’clock this morning a police team was deployed to turn off a sound system that was being operated in the community of Arnett Gardens.

The police say they were greeted with gunfire from a group of men, but managed to return the fire and the men ran leaving two firearms and 13 rounds of ammunition.

In the second incident, the CCN says a police was on patrol along St Johns Road, in Spanish Town, when they stopped at a party that was in progress.

The police say while approaching the venue a man pulled a firearm and aimed it at them before dropping the weapons and making his escape.
