SQUASH: Burrowes, Anderson lead field for BCW Capital Squash Tournament

Published:Monday | September 16, 2013 | 10:08 AM

Jamaica’s top squash players Wayne Burrowes and Karen Anderson lead a field of over 50 competitors vying for top honours at the BCW Capital/Liguanea Club Tournament, which serves off today at the Liguanea Club in Kingston.

The tournament is over six rounds and ends on Saturday.

The tournament will utilise a handicap format and as a result the matches are expected to be competitive.

Another exciting feature of the tournament is that male and female players will go up against each other rather than competing in separate draws.

All eyes will be on Burrowes, who holds the men’s record for the most All Jamaica Senior Championship wins with 13 national titles.

Interestingly, Burrowes’ stiffest competition is expected to come from veteran ladies champion Anderson, who has won a record 12 All Jamaica Women’s titles.

Anderson has been out of action for an extended period due to injury but is expected to seriously challenge Burrowes for the crown.

Other interesting entries are senior national team players Bruce Levy and Joey Levy.
