Published:Tuesday | September 17, 2013 | 7:56 AM

The first set of recipients for scholarship from the Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Pocket Rocket Foundation will be announced today at Devon House in Kingston.

The function to announce the winners is scheduled to start at 9 o’clock in the morning.

The Pocket Rocket Foundation was launched in May by the two-time 100-metre Olympic champion.

In July, GraceKennedy, which five years ago signed Fraser-Pryce as its ambassador, pledged a million dollar to the foundation.

The Pocket Rocket Foundation is an incorporated not-for-profit entity that operates exclusively for charitable purposes.

Through donations and fundraising, the foundation will provide scholarships to high-school students from second to sixth form, who represent their school in any sporting discipline.

Minister of Education, Ronald Thwaites will be the keynote speaker at today’s function.
