FOOTBALL: CONCACAF final round matches to kick off at the same time

Published:Tuesday | September 17, 2013 | 9:40 AM

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz will have to start their final CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying match against Honduras simultaneously with the other two matches.

There are two rounds of matches remaining.

The Reggae Boyz will host Honduras on October 15, the last day of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.

CONCACAF has instructed all the home teams to start the matches at the same time, citing that each of the encounters is expected to have bearing on qualification and the final table.

All the home teams have agreed to start at 9 o'clock in the evening.

The other matches on the last day are Panama hosting United States and Costa Rica entertaining Mexico.

The United States, with 16 points and Costa Rica, 15 points, have already secured two of the automatic berths, while Honduras', 11 points, sit alone in third for the last automatic place.

The fourth-placed side will enter into an Intercontinental Playoff against New Zealand.

Panama and Mexico are currently level in that position on eight points, but the Central Americans hold the advantage on the most goals scored tiebreaker.

Last-place Jamaica 4 points remains in contention for the fourth place after a 1-all draw against the Costa Ricans on Tuesday.
