FOOTBALL: daCosta Cup kicks into high gear today with 34 matches

Thirty-four matches are scheduled for today as the 2013 ISSA/LIME rural-area daCosta Cup gets into high gear.



The top-of-the-table clash between Zone D leaders Grange Hill High and 2005 champions Godfrey Stewart High will highlight the full slate of matches.



The match will take place at the Belle Isle Community Centre.



Also in the group, at third place The Manning’s School will host Black River, while Little London will take on Knockalva Technical.



Other interesting matches are Frome Technical against Cambridge High at the Frome Sports Ground, St Andrew Technical High School against Balaclava and Manchester High playing Bellefield.



All matches are scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m..



Meanwhile, only one game will be played in the urban area Manning Cup competition today. That game is a rescheduled match between Wolmer’s Boys and Clan Carthy at Heroes Circle.



Excelsior High registered a 2-1 away victory over Haile Sealassie yesterday for their third straight victory in Group ‘B’ of the Manning Cup.



Norman Manley remained in second place behind Excelsior following a 4-nil victory over Waterford.



Ascot High also secured a third straight victory by defeating Edith Dalton 1-nil to hold on to the lead in Group ‘A’.



Calabar rebounded from defeat on Saturday with a 4-nil victory over St Andrew Technical High School. In the group other game, Hydel blanked Jonathan Grant 2-nil.



Over in Group E, Bridgeport High scored an away 4-1 victory over Tivoli, Jose Marti beat St Andrew College 1-nil and Jamaica College had a 4-nil victory over Ardenne.
