Supreme Court Judge Bryan Sykes today sentenced 26-year-old higgler Christopher Thomas, of Duhaney Park St Andrew to 40 years imprisonment for the murder of Detective Corporal Dave Daley.

Daley was fatally shot in Brook Valley, Duhaney Park in February 2007.

Sykes sentenced Thomas to life imprisonment and said the sentence was for 40 years.

The Judge said Thomas cannot apply for parole until he has served half of the sentence.

Daley was attached to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

The judge pointed out that the evidence showed that even when Daley was shot and he fell, shots were still fired at him.

Daley was shot 17 times.

Thomas was convicted in the Home Circuit Court in July but sentencing was put off until today.
