FOOTBALL: Geoffery Maxwell's Humble Lion lead Premier League after two matches

Geoffery Maxwell’s Humble Lion have surged ahead in the early table following Match Day 2 of the 2013/2014 Red Stripe Premier League.




The Clarendon-based side turned in a good away performance to beat former champions Portmore United 2-nil in the night game at the Ferdie Neita Park in Portmore yesterday.



The victory represents win number two from as many games and pushes Humble Lion to a perfect six points.



It was the second straight defeat for Portmore United, who are bottom of the table without a point.



Only one other team boosts a perfect win record after two matches. Cavalier are also on maximum six points, but second in the early table after an away 1-nil victory over Waterhouse at the Drewsland Stadium.



With the defeat, Waterhouse remained on three points along with Montego Bay United and Sporting Central Academy.



Montego Bay United bounced from their opening defeat against Tivoli Gardens to beat Sporting Central Academy 2-nil at the Catherine Hall Complex.



Sporting Central Academy had won their opening round game.



Meanwhile, defending champions Harbour View got their first point after coming from behind to earn an away 1-all draw against Boys’ Town at the Collie Smith Complex.



In the day’s other games – Arnett Gardens and promoted August Town battled to a 1-all draw at the Anthony Spaulding Complex, while Rivoli United, the other promoted team, were held to a goalless draw by Tivoli Gardens at the Prison Oval field in Spanish Town.
