New traffic signals for Caymanas Estate and Mandela Highway intersection

Published:Tuesday | September 24, 2013 | 3:18 PM

The newly installed traffic signals at the intersection of Caymanas Estate Road and Mandela Highway in St. Catherine will become operational on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m..

The National Works Agency (NWA) says this section of the corridor has been prone to accidents, a situation which has been further exacerbated by new developments in the area.

The agency says the new traffic signals will improve safety and control at the intersection and will allow motorists to turn left and right safely, under protective movement.

Meanwhile, the newly installed pedestrian crossing at the intersection will also allow for the safe movement of pedestrians.

The NWA says this is a temporary measure which will be in place until the Caymanas developers implement a permanent solution to access the Caymanas community.

The Urban Development Corporation and its partners are developing the Caymanas Estates.
