Nineteen new ambulances have been handed over to the Regional Health Authorities, as part of Government’s plans to revitalise the country’s emergency vehicle services.

The vehicles, which cost US$884,323 (J$88.4 million) were handed over by Health Minister Dr. Fenton Ferguson.

He said the lack of vehicles across the public health sector to support health services and programmes has been a major issue.

According to Ferguson, the acquisition the new ambulances will improve the services to patients and save the Government millions in rental and service costs.
