Three killed in St Ann, St James crashes

Three persons were killed yesterday evening in motor vehicle collisions on the Llandovery and Flanker main roads in St Ann and St James, respectively.



Those who died were identified as 50-year-old Christopher Blake of Rhyne Park, Rose Hall in St James, 54-year-old Rensford Wilson of Mount Zion district, St Ann and 38-year-old George Hemmings of Spot Valley, St James.



In the first collision, the St Ann’s Bay police report that about 8:15 p.m., a Toyota Corolla motor car and a Toyota Hiace minibus were travelling in opposite directions along the roadway when on reaching the intersection of the Llandovery and the Laughland main roads, the driver of the Toyota Corolla motor car allegedly attempted to make a right turn and collided with the Toyota Hiace minibus.



Both men received head injuries and were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.



In the second collision, Hemmings died from injuries he received in a motor vehicle collision on the Flanker main road in St James.



The police report that about 6:45 p.m., Hemmings was driving his Toyota Harrier SUV along the roadway when it collided with a Mitsubishi Triton pick-up. He was taken to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The other driver has been admitted in serious condition.



Investigations continue.
