St James policeman held in connection to alleged robbery

The St James police are reporting that one of their colleagues has been taken into custody in relation to an alleged robbery in the parish on Friday.

They say the victim was held up at gunpoint while he was walking along Gloucester Avenue in Montego Bay, shortly after midnight.

The robber allegedly took the man’s cellular phone and money.

The matter was reported to policemen who were on patrol in the area and the police say the robber was later found in possession of the items.

A firearm was also allegedly found in his possession.

The police say after carrying out checks they realised the suspect is a police constable.

The matter has been reported to the Anti-Corruption Branch.
