Residents of George’s Plain in Westmoreland are reportedly angry this afternoon following the shooting of a woman in the community by gunmen today.

The residents are determined to capture two gunmen who they believe are in hiding in a canefield in the area.

The woman remains in hospital after reportedly being shot three times.

It’s reported that this morning two men on a bike attempted to rob a shop in the community.

The woman, who was a customer in the shop, ran and raised an alarm.

She was chased and shot.

The gunmen were later confronted by a police team which was in the area and the robbers reportedly ran into in a nearby canefield, which was later set on fire by angry residents in a bid to ferret them out.

The blaze was put out by afternoon rains, but the angry residents have refused to leave the area saying they intend to capture the robbers.
