The Police Traffic Division is reporting that 23 buses in the Corporate Area have been seized as part of the latest crackdown on heavily tinted public passenger vehicles (PPV) across the island.

The traffic police launched its operation this morning with the assistance of the Island Traffic Authority.

Head of the division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Radcliffe Lewis, says the 23 license plates from the offending vehicles have been removed and the drivers brought directly to court.

He is also reporting that there is almost 100 per cent compliance by PPV operators across the island.

SSP Lewis has argued that the new drive against tinted buses is also aimed at removing what he terms party buses from the streets of the Corporate Area.
