Case involving Westmoreland attorney postponed

Published:Thursday | October 10, 2013 | 6:59 PM

The case involving former resident magistrate and Attorney-at-Law Dionne Maylor-Reid is to be mentioned in the Savanna-La-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court on December 12.

When the case was called up this morning it was postponed as the prosecution is awaiting forensic information relating to computers and telephones which were seized during the operation which led to her arrest.

Maylor-Reid was taken into police custody on September 2, following a raid on her Westmoreland office and her home by members of the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force.

She was arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction (Special Provision) Act and the Firearm Act.

However, she has since been granted bail.

Reports are that the lawyer's office was searched and an illegal gun, ammunition, several documents and computers, believed to be used in lottery scamming were found.
