Haitian PM wants UN to help eradicate cholera

Haiti’s Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe wants the United Nations to establish a high level committee to oversee efforts to help eradicate the cholera epidemic allegedly brought into the country by UN troops.

Lamothe said the UN has a moral responsibility in providing the necessary means to help eradicate the disease and support the families of victims.

Last week, human right lawyers filed a law suit in the courts in New York seeking extensive financial damages from the United Nations following the 2010 cholera outbreak in Haiti that killed more than 8,000 people.
