FOOTBALL: Reggae Boyz take on Honduras tonight

Published:Tuesday | October 15, 2013 | 9:24 AM

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz, who have no chance of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, will try to end their campaign on a high today in the final set of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.

Jamaica, who are bottom of the six-team standings, will host Honduras at the National Stadium in Kingston.

The Reggae Boyz were eliminated on Friday following an away 2-0 defeat against the USA; while Honduras beat Costa Rica 1-0 in San Pedro Sula to edge closer to a 2014 World Cup berth.

The Reggae Boyz, who are on four points from nine games, will finish at the bottom of the six-team table regardless of the result against Honduras.

Honduras are in third place on 14 points and on track for the region’s final automatic berth entering the match against Jamaica.

The USA and Costa Rica have already clinched berths to the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

The fourth-place finisher will get another chance for a spot in the 32-national field in Brazil.

That team meets Oceania champion New Zealand in a home-and-home playoff.

The other matches today are fourth place Mexico visiting second place Costa Rica and fifth place Panama hosting the first place USA.

All matches will start simultaneously at 8:30 p.m.
