Chamber of Commerce president calls for growth agenda
Jerome Reynolds, Staff Reporter
President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Francis Kennedy, says the government needs to urgently push to have its growth agenda implemented to turn around the country’s financial climate.
Kennedy says he is not surprised by the dim outlook of the economy by businesses and consumers in the latest confidence survey.
He says given that Jamaica’s deal with the International Monetary Fund requires fiscal consolidation, a weakening of the economy is expected.
The JCC president says the government must now focus on finalising and implementing its growth agenda with its local and international partners.
He says the country will continue to feel the financial pinch until strategies and programmes are implemented to boost the economy.
