VOLLEYBALL: National association to elect new head

Published:Thursday | October 17, 2013 | 7:02 AM

In less than a week, the Jamaica Volleyball Association (JAVA) will elect a new leader when it stages its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 23.

The AGM will take place on Wednesday at the National Arena Complex, beginning at 5 p.m.

The incumbent president, Major Warrenton Dixon, has opted not to seek reelection citing greater focus on career, family and personal goals.

Major Dixon, who has been at the helm of JaVA for the past four years, says he will not abandon the association.

The outgoing president says he will offer himself to the new administration to serve as a junior member of the Management Committee.

The other executive positions that will be voted on at next week's AGM are General Secretary and Treasurer.

The JaVA Constitution allows for nominations from the floor on the day of the AGM.
