Winston Chung-Fah, former technical director of the Jamaica Football Federation, says his Order of Distinction award received at the National Honours and Awards Ceremony at Jamaica House yesterday, was something special.

Chung-Fah, who resides in the Cayman Islands, was one of seven sporting personalities honoured on the day.

Chung-Fah received the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander Class for outstanding contribution to the development of Jamaica’s Football Programme.

The national award came 17 months after the 73-year-old received the highest honour that FIFA bestows on football stalwarts - the FIFA Order of Merit in Budapest, Hungary.

Two former boxers - Richard ‘Shrimpy’ Clarke and George ‘Bunny Grant’ Leslie – were also honoured.

They received the Order of Distinction in the Officer Class.

Top horseracing trainer Wayne DaCosta; Ian Forbes, the second vice-president of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association; Wilbert Parkes, former women’s cricket coach; and broadcaster Simon Crosskills were the other sporting personalities who received the Order of Distinctions.
