Cuba’s new Ambassador to Jamaica, Bernardo Guanche Hernandez, says his country is looking to deepen cooperation with Jamaica in the area of trade.

He says the bilateral relations between Cuba and Jamaica has reached its highest point so far and consideration is now being given to ways to improve and strengthen these relations even more.

Ambassador Hernandez says his country believes the partners could further this relation specifically in the field of trade.

Ambassador Hernandez was part of a delegation at a recent Jamaica Information Service (JIS) Think Tank, to discuss the upcoming Second Meeting of Energy Ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

It is scheduled to take place October 24-25 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James.

Jamaica and Cuba have more than 40 years of relations having established diplomatic links on December 8, 1972.
