The finalists in the 2013 ISSA/LIME rural-area Ben Francis Knockout football competition will be decided today following the playing of the semi-finals.

The semi-final matches will be played at two venues.

Green Pond and Manchester High School will contest one of the semi-finals at the St Andrew Technical High School (STETHS) field.

The other semi-final takes place at the Juici Beef Complex field and features STETHS against Paul Bogle High.

Both matches are scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the urban area Walker Cup Knockout, St George’s College and Excelsior High have joined defending champions Wolmer’s Boys and Charlie Smith in the semi-finals.

The two schools completed the semi-final line-up following good quarterfinal victories at the Constant Spring field yesterday.

St George’s College, the defending Manning Cup champions, whipped Hydel High 4-0 in the opening game at the venue, while Excelsior High blanked favourites Jamaica College 2-0 in the second game.

It was the first defeat for Jamaica College in the 2013 schoolboy football season.

Leabert Halliman, coach of Excelsior High, says the tag of underdogs motivated his team.

Miguel Coley, coach of Jamaica College, is now thinking about the Manning Cup.

Excelsior will now face St George’s College in one semi-final, while Wolmer’s Boys and Charlie Smith will contest the other semi-final.
