CRICKET: West Indies, New Zealand face off in Women's Tri-Nation Series

Published:Thursday | October 24, 2013 | 8:23 AM

West Indies and England will face off today in the final preliminary round match of the Women’s Twenty20 International Tri-Nation Series at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The day/night contest is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Jamaica time.

The match is of academic interest as the two teams have already earned the right to contest the Grand Final on Saturday, also at Kensington Oval.

The two teams were confirmed as finalists after England defeated the other team in the series – New Zealand – on Tuesday night at Kensington Oval.

New Zealand, who needed a victory to keep alive their chances and to delay West Indies hopes of advancing, lost by 19 runs.

This will be the second meeting between West Indies and England in the series.

The Caribbean side won the first meeting by 11 runs on October 19.

On that occasion England lost seven wickets for 14 runs.

West Indies will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways after losing their last match four days ago by nine runs.

That defeat came against New Zealand.
