One man was shot dead and a policeman seriously injured during an alleged shoot-out in Albion Mews in Montego Bay, St James today.

The dead man, who was reportedly visiting the community, was identified only as ‘Marvin’.

The injured policeman is a Montego Bay-based detective corporal.

According to the police, about 12:20 this afternoon a team was on an operation in the community when they were fired on.

The police say the fire was returned and when the shooting ended, the corporal and the civilian were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

However, residents have disputed the police’s version of the incident.

Some residents claim that the deceased man was first shot inside a house and then taken outside and told to run by policemen.

They further said while running the police opened fire shooting him again.

Residents claim that it was during that time the policeman was shot by his colleagues and not by alleged gunmen.
