Police keep eye on Russia, Westmoreland following triple murder

The police are maintaining a strong presence in the community of Russia in Savanna-la-Mar in Westmoreland following a triple murder in the area last night.

The police say five persons were shot in the incident which took place about 9:45 last night.

Three men died as a result of injuries they received while two were taken to hospital where one was treated and released and the other admitted.

The police have not released the names of the dead people, noting that all family members have not yet been notified.

However, they say the shooting victims were mostly elderly men.

The police suspect that the shooting incident is a result of a turf war between community members.
