Police in St Mary have captured a man they have been hunting for since Wednesday night following the death of 22-month-old Eshauna Graham.

Forty-nine year-old Clive Barrett, was held in an abandoned house in the Hopewell district of Fraser Wood in St Mary shortly after 11 a.m.

He was reportedly bleeding from several wounds, due to an encounter with local residents who tried to capture him yesterday afternoon.

Due to his condition, police have taken him to a medical facility in the parish.

The police said on Wednesday they received reports that a child was crying out and was being scalded by her granduncle.

Barrett reportedly told the police that the child had fallen into a fire.

The infant girl and her mother were taken to Port Maria Hospital where the child was treated but later succumbed to her injuries.

However, the police said checks revealed that the infant had other injuries that were not accounted for by Barrett.
