FALMOUTH POLICE BEATING: Conflicting details emerging

Published:Tuesday | November 5, 2013 | 9:29 PM

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) is indicating that there are conflicting reports from the police about the alleged beating of an inmate at the Falmouth Police Station.

The Sunday Gleaner reported two days ago that Kamoza Clarke has been hospitalised suffering from trauma caused by a blunt object.

Police Commissioner Owen Ellington subsequently ordered a probe and today received a report from Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Inspectorate of Constabulary Delworth Heath.

"The report and initial investigations carried out by the IOC (Inspectorate of Constabulary) are in contrast to the account that was given to the Police High Command regarding the incident," a spokesman for the CNN said in a release.

Against that background a team of investigators led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Carlton Wilson, has been tasked to immediately intensify and complete the investigations.

Following the probe, a file is to be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for a ruling.
