FOOTBALL: U-17 women’s director optimistic ahead of Ja/Canada match

Published:Wednesday | November 6, 2013 | 4:31 PM

National women's football programme director, Vin Blaine, says despite never beating Canada at any level, he is confident that Jamaica Under-17 Girls can do so today.

The team must win to advance to the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup, which will be held in Costa Rica next year.

The two will square-off this evening at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, in semi-final action of the CONCACAF Under-17 Women's Championship beginning at 6 p.m.

Blaine, however, stated that if Jamaica were to come out on top it would have to take patience and defensive discipline, as was demonstrated in their group fixture against Mexico.
