Howard Cooke primary gets security fence

Students and teachers at the Howard Cooke Primary School in Catherine Hall, St James, could soon feel a greater sense of security.

This after member of parliament for the area and State Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce Sharon Ffolkes-Abrahams last week broke ground for the construction of a perimeter fence around the school.

Ffolkes-Abrahams has also pledged a donation of J$50,000 from her Constituency Development Fund towards the project.

She says the project is a significant step forward for the institution and a strong demonstration of the school board’s commitment to ensuring the security of the over 1,300 students attending the institution.

In expressing appreciation for the project, the school’s acting principal Mavis Moses noted that safety and security were among the most urgent challenges facing the institution.
