Team Shaw claims victory, Holness camp confident too

On the brink of the closure of polls for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leadership election, the camp of contender Audley Shaw is claiming victory.

Warren Newby, a key member of the Shaw camp left the voting centre a short while ago telling colleagues that based on surveys, the outgoing deputy leader would come away the victor.

But earlier, the team for incumbent Andrew Holness was also declaring victory.

The Electoral Office of Jamaica which is manning the election closed the poll at 1 p.m and a winner is expected to be announced by 4 p.m.
