A father and son died following a motor vehicle accident on a section of Highway 2000 at the weekend.

Fifty-six-year-old Carlos Thompson and his 19-year-old son Romaine, who are from Kingston, died following a collision on High Way 2000 in the vicinity of the Vineyards in St Catherine on Saturday evening.

The Constabulary Communication Network says the two were travelling in a Nissan Sunny motor vehicle, being driven by the elder Thompson, when it collided with a Toyota Tacoma pick-up.

The Nissan Sunny motor vehicle then caught fire and the police were alerted.

Occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospital where Thompson and his son died.
