G2K calls on party members to support Holness fully

The young professional affiliate arm of the Jamaica Labour Party, Generation 2000 (G2K), says all Members of Parliament, Councilors and Caretakers, must give their full and energetic support to Andrew Holness’ leadership.

The G2K says the delegates have spoken, with their votes, about who should lead the party and that decision should be respected.

Following two months of intense campaigning Holness was on Sunday voted by delegates as the head of the JLP.

Member of Parliament for North Manchester Audley Shaw had sought to unseat Holness.

The G2K says Holness and Shaw’s post election conduct will no doubt go a far way in reducing any residual tensions from a competitive and intense campaign for leadership.

It is for that reason the G2K is calling for supporters from both sides to come together and unite so that the JLP can move forward.

The organisation says the party should use the energy from the leadership election to position itself to take over the government from the People’s National Party.
