Haitian president to visit today
The President of Haiti, Michel Martelly, will arrive in the island today for a three-day State visit.
Jamaica House says the Haitian President will be met at the Norman Manley International Airport by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.
President Martelly will later hold talks with the Governor General, the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader Andrew Holness.
The Haitian Leader will also hold talks with members of the Simpson Miller Cabinet, heads of executive agencies and the private sector on a range of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues.
Jamaica House says among the areas to be discussed are: security, trade and investment, tourism, sport and culture and CARICOM assistance to Haiti.
President Martelly will also visit the Jamaica Defence Force and tour the College of Agriculture, Science and Education in Portland and Jamaica Broilers in St Catherine.
He will also lay a wreath at the monument of Venezuelan liberator Simon Bolivar and meet with members of the Haitian community in Jamaica.
President Martelly and his delegation will leave the island on Friday.
