Taxi drivers concern about new bus centre

There is growing concern among corporate area taxi drivers ahead of Saturday’s official opening of the Half Way Tree Transportation Centre.

At a stakeholders meeting yesterday, taxi drivers expressed disquiet about the routes of the buses that will use the new centre.

The taxi drivers said they have not been licenced to use the routes assigned to the JUTC buses.

They are demanding that they be legally allowed to use the same routes because the JUTC buses are not efficient.

Transport Minister, Mike Henry, instructed the taxi drivers to consult the Transport Authority for advice on licencing.

Mr. Henry admitted that several matters are to be addressed ahead of Saturday’s opening of the new transportation centre.
