Homicide investigators at the May Pen Police Station have positively identified a decomposing body as that of missing schoolgirl Calisa Edwards.

Edwards’ body was discovered in the Goshen area of Mocho, Clarendon last Thursday.

The 15-year-old, who was a student of the Lennon High School, went missing last Tuesday night after visiting friends in Goshen.

Investigators say her badly decomposed and severely burned body was discovered in an abandoned house in the same community, with the hands severed from the corpse.

They say they had to use DNA technology to identify the school girl.

Investigators say they are following strong leads and are awaiting a post mortem report to determine the cause of death.
