Five arriving on flight from Curacao slapped with drug charges

The police yesterday charged five persons and seized several pounds of illegal drugs at the Norman Manley International Airport.



The police say that five persons who arrived on a flight from Curacao were searched: a Dutch male, three Jamaican males and a Jamaican female.



The drugs were discovered in their possession and they were arrested for breaches against the Dangerous Drug Act.



The police say the items collectively seized from the individuals include: 5.4 pounds of ganja, with a street value amounting to $27,800; 1.8 pounds of cocaine, valuing $820,000; US$903; and a quantity of liquid cocaine packaged as anti-aging lotion.



All five persons are in police custody pending questioning; their identities, however, are being withheld.
