Police constable in custody on robbery charges

A police constable was arrested and charged yesterday with four counts of illegal possession of firearm, robbery with aggravation, three counts of illegal possession of ammunition and conspiracy.



He has been identified as Orane Edwards of a Portmore, St Catherine address.



Edwards is accused of being involved in a robbery in which three men allegedly held up a man and robbed him of two licensed firearms and cash in Mandeville, Manchester on October 9.



Corporal Gregory Givans, who is also accused of being one of the robbers, was charged October 31 with three counts of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.



Edwards is to appear in the Mandeville Resident Magistrate’s Court on November 27, while Givans is to appear in the same court on December 11.
