Trinidad and Tobago’s National Security Minister Gary Griffith has defended the actions of his immigration officers who denied entry to 13 Jamaicans on Tuesday.

Griffith told CEEN TV news that his investigation indicates that all of those who were turned back did not satisfy immigration requirements.

He said some of the visitors indicated that they were entering the twin republic to work, but did not have skills certificates.
Griffith said in other cases, the Jamaicans did not have enough money to fund their visit.

He also said some of the Jamaicans said they were coming to work but the named employers knew nothing about them.

The Jamaican Government and the local business sector have expressed concern about trend of Jamaicans being denied entry to Trinidad and Tobago.
