The authorities in the tourism industry have embarked on a $400 million project to upgrade the tourist town of Ocho Rios, St Ann.

The Ministry of Tourism says the first phase of the Ocho Rios Upgrading Project will see works being carried out at the cruise ship pier, and Turtle River Road, which is the thoroughfare that runs from the pier to Main Street.

The ministry says there will be improvements to Main Street, including work to be done on the sidewalks, improved landscaping and new architecture.

The Ocho Rios Upgrading Project is being funded by the Tourism Enhancement Fund in partnership with the Urban Development Corporation and the Port Authority of Jamaica.
