Wimbledon champion Andy Murray is the hot favourite to win this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Murray is the clear favourite for the award after he ended Britain's 77-year wait for a men's singles title at Wimbledon back in July.

The Scot finished third in last year's contest behind Sir Bradley Wiggins and Jessica Ennis and will become the fourth tennis player to lift the award should he win.

US Open winner Justin Rose, Tour de France title-holder Chris Froome and legendary jockey Tony McCoy have also been nominated for the prestigious award.

Sailor Sir Ben Ainslie, Ashes-winning batsman Ian Bell, World Championship winners Mo Farah and Christine Ohuruogu, wheelchair athlete Hannah Cockcroft and Lions winner Leigh Halfpenny complete the 10-strong shortlist.
