CRICKET: Narine added to West Indies Test squad
West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has been added to the Test squad for the tour of New Zealand in December.
Narine's inclusion came after offspinner Shane Shillingford of Dominica and part-time spinner Marlon Samuels of Jamaica were reported for suspect actions during West Indies' recent tour of India.
Shillingford and Samuels, along with West Indies coach, Ottis Gibson, are headed to Perth, Australia for independent testing on their actions.
Samuels' faster ball and Shillingford's doosra were the deliveries under scrutiny during the second Test in Mumbai in November.
Both players are available for selection for the first Test in Dunedin, New Zealand which begins on December 3, subject to the results of the tests on their actions.
Samuels, Shillingford and Gibson are expected to join the West Indies squad in New Zealand over the weekend.
The Darren Sammy-led squad is without explosive Jamaican opener Chris Gayle.
He will miss all three tests after he tore a hamstring in the opening One-Day International against India last week.
The squad includes three Jamaicans.
They are Samuels, Sheldon Cottrell and wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton.
The remaining members of the squad are – Denesh Ramdin, vice-captain; Tino Best, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Kirk Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, Veerasammy Permaul and Kieron Powell.
