The St Elizabeth community of Bromington Hall is in anger and anguish this afternoon after an 18-year-old baby mother was chopped allegedly by her baby father, before setting her house on fire.
The woman, identified as Kimberly Simpson was pronounced dead at hospital.
It is reported that sometime after 10 o’ clock this morning the baby father went to the house shared by Simpson, her two-year-old son and her grandmother.
It is further reported that a dispute developed between the man and Simpson when he locked himself in the house with her.
He allegedly chopped her in front of their son, before putting the child outside the room and then setting the house.
However, the damage was not extensive as firefighters were quick on the scene.
The police also turned up and managed to accost the man and take Simpson to the hospital.
However, the police have not been able to remove the man from the house because of an angry mob outside.
Meanwhile, Simpson’s grandmother, Almeda Powell, told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre that she called the Nain Police four times but they did not respond.
The woman further claimed that she made similar calls to the Alligator Pond Police but she says she did not get a response.
She is calling for Police Commissioner, Owen Ellington, to take immediate action.
Powell says the alleged attacker is before the court on a charge of carnal abuse for allegedly impregnating her granddaughter when she was 15 years old.
