Two police constables were among three persons taken into custody last evening in connection with the robbery of two motorists in St Andrew.

The identities of the two policemen are being withheld, but sources say they are attached to the Mobile Reserve at Up Park Camp.

According to reports, the two motorists were sitting in a car near a gas station along Shortwood Road when they were approached by three men who took the key to the vehicle before robbing them of $12,000 and two mobile phones before driving away.

The victims reportedly alerted a private security team about the robbery and they went in pursuit of the alleged robbers.

A chase ensued and the car with the alleged robbers reportedly crashed along Hope Road, in Liguanea where they were held.

They were handed over to the Matilda's Corner Police.
