Two persons have been confirmed dead as heavy rains which have been battering Cuba since yesterday continued for most of today.

Cuban authorities say a 60-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man were killed after a house collapsed in the capital Havana.

Officials have also confirmed that several streets have been inundated and that a number of buildings have collapsed.

The meteorological service in Cuba reports that as much as 7.8 inches of rain has fallen since Friday evening and that the forecast calls for more heavy rains into tomorrow, particularly in the western and central regions.
